Wendeen H. Eolis delivers a current state of affairs concerning online poker with her latest in-depth study of the age old question, “Is poker a game of skill or luck?”  Most of us poker players know the correct answer to this question; but, the official (and legal) decision remains in the hands of lawyers, judges and the federal court system.

As a long-time photographer of the game, the answer to the “is it skill or luck?” question appears patently obvious. The high frequency of same the players cashing in tournaments speaks volumns.  Either there is something to the skill argument or some of these oft-photographed “lucky” players have mastered the ability to catch luck in a bottle.  Even that should be considered a skill, although it’s probably better learned from leprechauns rather than textbooks.
