Fitzgeralds closes poker room

In what we hope does not start a trend, the poker room at Fitzgeralds downtown has quietly closed.
Other poker rooms, such as Silverton, have limited their hours.
Fitz had a tough time since launching their poker room upstairs a few years ago. Only attracting 1 or 2 tables worth of players, they tried tournaments, sit-n-gos, freerolls, high hand jackpots, but in the end it didn’t justify the cost and was shuttered.
We don’t know if this was an independent decision or if it was as a result of Golden Gate acquiring Fitz, but we suspect a bit of both.
(By the way, Fitz has full-pay 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker upstairs.)
