Two final tables at Tuesday’s Day #19 of the 2007 WSOP in the Rio Resort’s Pavilion. Event #28, $3000 No Limit Hold’em, ended on the 148th hand of final table play when winner Shakar Pillai put Beth Shak all in, won the hand and scooped the tournament. Pillai collected his gold WSOP bracelet, Corum watch and $527,829 in cash. Crowd favorite Beth Shak received $328,683 for second. Phil Hellmuth Jr was at the final table seeking WSOP bracelet #12 to add to his record collection of 11; but, he had to settle for 6th place and $76,464 in prize money. Hellmuth did extend his record of Most WSOP cashes to 60.
Event #29, $1500 Razz, was taken down by Katja Thater of Gemany. Thater gathered all of the chips into her stack on the 190th hand of final table play when she bested Larry St Jean for the win. Katja picked up her first WSOP bracelet, a Corum watch and $132,653 in cash. Larry goes home with $73,311 for second. Katja Thater said ,”Its heavier than I thought it would be,” after WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack placed it around her wrist. Congratulations to both new WSOP Champions.
