Stopping by the Total Rewards counter at Harrah’s the friendly clerk said we should be playing the Rio to take advantage of the Locals Only promo that returned your played money in the form of vouchers you could cash at the casino cage or as the employee stated…You’re playing for free! We were told that players would receive 10 times the number of base points and they could be cashed in for vouchers at the Total Rewards center at the Rio. Wow! Free slot play…sounds almost too good to be true.
Another stop by the Total Rewards counter at the Flamingo assured us this was indeed the case and we should be at the Rio, so to the Rio we did go. And a final stop at the Rio’s Total Rewards assured us we should play the machines and come back and receive our vouchers for redemption at the Rio’s casino cage. After playing (and losing) a few hundred dollars we found the Total Rewards place closed until 9 AM.
When we returned later in the day we learned that all play from the previous day (night and early morning) should have been claimed before 4:59 AM or it was lost. Nothing carries over. Huh? No one said anything about the clock constrictions. But that’s not all… those cash vouchers aren’t for cash. They are coupons for additional slot play. Furthermore, that 10 times the base points thing really means you receive 10 times the usual amount of coupons for free slot play, i.e., 50 base points equal a $5 free play coupon. Bottom line: We did not earn the minimum to receive even one lowly $5 slot play coupon.
Too good to be true? Yes! Our advice is give yourself a cash bonus by keeping your cash in your pocket and drop kicking this “free” offer right back to Total Rewards.
