We have fond memories of O’Sheas.
Where else can you be greeted by a leprechaun (actually a little person dressed in green garb), who’s carnival barking through a megaphone to lure you inside for “ice cold beer.” And when he’s not on the megaphone, he’s walking along the bar, pouring shots into customers’ mouths.
Or the cheap beer. Or the wabo-ritas. Or the Beer Pong in the back (which we believe was the first casino to introduce the game). Or the “outdoor” poker, which was really three poker tables set up next to the two Strip entrances. Many a time we sat there folding, while enjoying air conditioning and watching tourists walk up and down the Strip in 105 degree weather.
Today, Caesars Entertainment announced that next month O’Sheas (at least in the current incarnation) will be no more. It will merge with Imperial Palace, which itself will be rebranded and changes names after it gets a makeover.
Caesars owns both properties and plans to relaunch a different O’Sheas in summer 2013.
