Day #1 of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship filled the tournament poker room at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and almost twelve hours for the single eliminated first round matches. Returning champion Ted Forrest won so his hopes of repeating remain alive. The third time wasn’t the charm for Chris Ferguson after being eliminated by Scott Fischman. Jamie Gold remains in the hunt after sending Jennifer Tilly home. Phil Laak comes back on Saturday after he took all of Marco Traniello’s chips.

2005 WSOP trumps 2003 WSOP after Joseph Hachem cut Chris Moneymaker’s stay short. Cyndy Violette went down in a hard fought match with T.J. Cloutier. Five of the women remain-Shannon Elizabeth, Vanessa Russo, Annie Duke, Kristy Gazes and Isabelle Mercier. Kristy Gazes will go two rounds without playing one of the boys after she drew and eliminated Clonie Gowan in first round plays Isabelle in Saturday’s round.
