Aria Hotel Casino at CityCenter Las Vegas
Charles Oakley, 6’9″ 245 lb former NBA Knicks power forward, has filed suit for unspecified damages from the Aria Hotel Casino located in MGM Entertainment’s CityCenter on the Las Vegas strip. The security guards are also named as defendants in the suit that states the May, 2010 altercation left Oakley with severe injuries requiring a trip to a hospital emergency room.
According to the filing, Charles Oakley was in Las Vegas to participate in Michael Jorden’s invitational golf charity fundraiser when he left the Aria resort’s VIP pool area and was refused re-entry, then argued with security guards before being turned away. When he attempted to return to his guest room, the suit contends, he was “jumped” and beaten by five security personnel in a secluded area of the property. The violence apparently resulted in physical injuries that required emergency care at a local hospital and a cell phone image tweeted from the hospital shows Oakley with a heavily bandage right arm receiving additional medical care.
Charles Oakley is currently an assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats.
