Saturday the third freeroll was held and I was fortunate to have a seat in the limited event. Fourteen players qualified and when the dust cleared after four hours of play I had all the chips and the $1,500 WSOP seat. For an encore I came back for the regularly scheduled 7:00 PM tournament (NHL $45 buy-in with one $20 rebuy) and won that one for a back to back double.
I qualified for the freeroll in the last three tournaments of the qualifying period. I had to make the top five in two of the three events to have a mathematical chance to play in the freeroll. I approached the events with a mind set of determination that I would play mistake free poker and I did just that. With the suck out and luck factors breaking even and ‘fatal’ mistakes out of the equation the determination payed off and I’m going to the “big poker show” in June.
Plenty of seats are still up for grabs including a $10,000 Main Event ticket so head to Sam’s Town and qualify for the remaining two monthly tournaments and the season finale Freeroll that will offer qualified players an opportunity to play in the 2007 WSOP. Check out the tournament schedule here on the Porker Prof’s Tournament Directory, the easiest to use directory on the Internet. Call the Sam’s Town Poker Room for complete details at 702.456.7777. My thanks to Sam’s Town for providing the WSOP seats and especially Poker Room Manager Dick Gatewood, tournament director Jason Wyckoff and all the dealers for making the tournaments a great poker playing experience.
