CORY LIDLE WAS A FRIEND OF POKER

Cory Lidle
1972-2006.

The news of Cory Lidle’s death came as a shock. Even the way it happened was shocking. An airplane flys into a tall building in New York City and explodes into flames with airplane parts and building pieces falling onto the street below. Early accounts of the crash are saying the plane was apparently having some problems and flying erractically.

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Cory Lidle at his annual Celebrity Poker Tournament here in Las Vegas. We had a common interest in flying (I’m a lcensed pilot) and spent some time dicussing our mutual fasination of avaition. During the off-season he donated a lot of his time and money to his favorite charity, The Make A Wish Foundation. With a large group of professional baseballers and a generous number of celebrity the tournament was always a fun event to cover.

The baseball world lost a gifted pitcher, sports lost a great athelete, and poker lost a good friend. Cory Lidle—1972-2006.
