The next step on my 2007 WSOP warm-up list is a few days at the Rio Resort, home of the World Series of Poker. The excitement of the WSOP adds to the always high energy atmosphere of the original party place in Las Vegas. In less than three weeks the Rio will be crowded with thousands of poker players from around the globe and all believing they are destined to be the next WSOP world champion and poker multimillionaire.
I’m enjoying a few days camped out in the Masquerade tower with a great view of the Vegas strip, downtown and the mountains vistas north toward Utah. Some things at the Rio have changed since last year with the addition of a recently opened Italian restaurant in Masquerade Village on the second level that provides Vegas sized portions. Diners have a great view of the Sky Float Parade dancers.
