DUBAI INVESTS IN THE LIGHT GROUP

Dubai inched a little closer to becoming the Las Vegas of the east.

The Middle East, that is.

Last year, Dubai World made a splash by investing heavily (over $5 billion) into MGM Mirage, opening up plans for another mixed-use center like Project CityCenter north of the Strip.

Now Zabeel Investments has invested in 50 percent of The Light Group, the brains behind many of Las Vegas’s hottest and choicest nightclubs, lounges, and restaurants (The Bank nightclub at Bellagio and Diablo’s Cantina at Monte Carlo are its latest concepts). The undisclosed investment will bring much of the Vegas-style poshness of its clubs and restaurants to Dubai.

The added capital will also allow Light Group to expand its concepts across the United States.
