LAS VEGAS IS POKER CENTRAL
Doesn’t matter where you are in Las Vegas you’re not far from some visual reference to America’s favorite participation game, poker. Modern poker will always trace it’s roots from the mighty Mississippi to the western mining camps and, of course, fabulous Las Vegas; but, the card game continues to evolve. Today the Internet and televised poker events have combined to redefine the game for the 21st century. Today’s poker game of choice is No-Limit Hold’em poker, a relative new comer to the Vegas poker scene. For many years the Vegas poker rooms consisted of a few tables of Seven Card Stud played by retirement age men. The only hold’em game in town was spread once a year at Binion’s Horseshoe and the buy-in was a steep $10K. Today, the typical Vegas poker room is filled with No-limit Hold’em tables crowded with young and old players of both genders. The only Seven Card Stud game in town is spread once a year at the Rio with a steep $5K buy-in.
